    Excellent audio quality and impressive battery life

    Slim and light design, good audio quality, built-in loudspeakers, excellent battery life

    Interface design could be livelier, front buttons aren't very distinct, volume keys should have been more prominent, poor loudspeaker position

Sony recently launched the S500 series of players in India, which are the first Walkman players to have built-in loudspeakers. It also has a large 2.4" display, video and photo playback and has Sony's Clear Bass and Clear Stereo audio enhancement features. We took the latest Walkman for a test drive and this is what we have to say about it.

In the review, there is no mention of the video formats supported. Please someone tell the codecs supported by the player.

The 4GB model available in market is close to INR 7,000. So, makes this model fall too short in terms of memory at a very high price. I would say rather get Creative Zen X-Fi.

One word - Prejudiced. In the review you keep talking about the ipod touch which is a much costlier PMP. It would have been much better if you stopped comparing apples and oranges

Two words: You're wrong. When a device is the absolute benchmark in the particular segment, you tend to compare other things with it. Also the iPod touch is quite popular and many people have used it so when you compare a new device with it, people get a better idea of how the product in question is.

If it were just the audio quality, then surely the Cowon players would come on top. But as an overall media playing device, the iPod touch is better.

mr.Naik, ipod may be your personal favorite and 'absolute' benchmark. There is nothing called a 'ABSOLUTE' benchmark with technology...PERIOD..!!

That maybe true, but for the time being the iPod touch is the benchmark in the market, at least until something better comes up.
