As Microsoft's Windows 7 was released worldwide recently, global Apple Mac owners were eager to check it out. Moving to a new operating system always gives us jitters about compatibility of hardware and software. Recently, iPhone owners using Windows 7 RC or Beta or Evaluation version complained on the Apple Discussion Board that they were facing iPhone syncing issues. Several users reported iPhone syncing issues wherein Intel P55 Express chipset was common amongst the configurations mentioned.

Apparently, Windows 7 64-bit operating system used over Intel P55-Express chipset based motherboard gives problem while syncing iPhone with it. The Windows 7 machine with iTunes 9 identifies the iPhone but whenever sync attempt is made "error 0xE8000065" is shown. It's believed that Intel P55 Express Chipset's USB controller is the main reason behind the problem faced while one attempts to sync an iPhone with a Windows 7 machine.

Several users have tried altering BIOS settings, disabling Bonjour services, and even changing to USB hubs but the issue persists. In the thread, it was observed that Gigabyte, Asus and MSI motherboards based on Intel P55 chipset faced this issue. So, either the respective companies will roll out motherboard updates or Intel might come up with a fix soon.

In any case, it's Apple who'll have to look into matter as the new 27-inch iMacs will feature Intel Core i5/i7 processor and may be paired with Intel P55-chipset. Expect an update for those systems running Windows 7 on Intel P55-chipset motherboard.

No accurate information is available on the issue as in whether it's Windows 7 (64-bit) on Intel P55 chipsets that is causing issues or vice versa.
