Could turn out to be a sought after destination for web apps
Google has revealed that its just launched communications service Google Wave will have an App Store of its own on the lines of the Apple App Store. The unofficial "announcement" came at the Google Wave User Group Meetup at London that was held on October 27.
Apart from the news regarding the arrival of an app store, there is also news about the service getting couple of new functionalities and fixing its current slowness. However, the snippet regarding the App Store was the most interesting of the lot - especially since it could prove to be a revenue generator for potential app developers. While it was known that Google Wave's API was free enough to enable developers to make their own apps and charge for it, an App Store for the same was actually never thought of. If the Wave app store materializes, it could potentially turn out to be a sought after destination for web apps.
With Google Wave already having seen the influx of quite a few applications for various purposes, the possible arrival of this store would prove to be a shot in the arm for the platform. Additionally, with the reach of Google Wave being significantly more than the current App store king Apple (which is limited to iPhones and iPods), Google Wave might be able to create a vast Apps eco-system. Note that all you need to have to access Google wave is a well-equipped browser.
Pertinent to note here is that there has not been an official announcement from Google regarding this. However, Google's Lars Rassmussen, (One of the creators of Google Wave) has been overheard quipping, "We'll almost certainly build a store So many developers have asked us to build a marketplace-and we might do a revenue-sharing arrangement."
