In what seems to be an attempt to make life easier for genuine Twitter users, the slightly complex procedure of reporting spam accounts on the service has been redesigned completely!
In its earlier rudimentary form, users had to send a direct message to the @spam Twitter account with details regarding the suspicious looking account in order to "report" spam. That way is still possible. However, the new tool that has just been introduced is a very simple and practical "report as spam" button you will see below every profile. It is located under the Actions section of a profile's sidebar.
Before you get paranoid about people randomly blocking genuine accounts, be assured that at the "back-end" the procedure of Twitter actually blocking an account remains the same. Twitter's Trust and Safety team will check the account in question and will do the needful. No automated action will be taken as a result of reporting a user as spam. So, no, you can't report someone as spam, just because you do not like that person. The good thing about this procedure is that once you report a profile, it will automatically be blocked from following or replying to you. That sounds like a nice little anti-stalking tool.

We certainly did wait a long for this ... You know all those times you wake up in the morning and log into your twitter acc and you see that 20 new people have added you. OK that's cool .. However the people who added you (TRUE STORY) have names like britneycock, and sarapalinbreast and so on; so the report spam feature is a much delayed and fantastic feature !!
