We list some of the best 16:9 aspect monitors in three different sizes
The monitor remains a key part in the whole multimedia experience whether it is games, movies, office applications, or Internet browsing, the whole experience can either be enjoyed or lost depending on the type of monitor you choose.
In the past month we've seen a sudden surge in 22" full HD monitors and only recently have the price of 24-inchers dropped, so that's become another attractive option if you need more screen real estate. If you're planning on upgrading your current 17" CRT or simply buying a new one here are a couple of monitors in various sizes for you to choose from.
16:9 aspect ratio is the new norm that all current monitors are following. The main benefit for this is when it comes to watching movies. There are thinner or no black borders any more, so the picture completely fills the screen. We've reviewed most of the monitors listed below but the others that we've mentioned are currently the most popular monitors that perform well. I've mentioned the MOP (Market Operating Price) of most monitors - the price you get these directly over the counter and not the MRP. So here they are, some of the best and affordable 18.5", 21.5" and 23.6" monitors available in the market.
The Acer P195HQ is a good monitor for a budget user and has the performance to back it up. The looks are stylish and simple with good aesthetics and build quality. The colors produced are nice and vibrant, thanks to the glossy screen, which is perfect for movies and gaming.
If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive monitor for everyday use then you should definitely check this out. However, there are two things you should look out for; the menu buttons are a bit tricky to use and the glossy finish may not suit everyone.
This monitor is relatively new, so availability may be a slight problem. Overall it's a really good monitor for the price.
Dell IN1910N Price: MOP Rs. 6,600
Supposedly one of the best 18.5" monitors currently available, this is one Dell monitor that's not so hard to find unlike its older siblings. Sporting a very modern design, the feature set remains pretty much the same like TN panel with 1366 x 768 resolution, 1000:1 typical contrast ratio, 250cd/m2 brightness, 5ms response time and VGA with tilt adjustability. This is one of their more popular models that should easily be available.
LG W1953T Price: MOP Rs.6,500
We haven't reviewed this model but it's one of the more popular monitors available in the market. Priced similar to the Dell, the LG sports a very classy design with a transparent trim where the OSD buttons are placed and piano black full gloss finish. The rest of the specifications include 1366 x 768 resolution, 50000:1 Dynamic contrast, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 5ms response time. This one, unlike the Dell, comes with both DVI-D and VGA connectors.
Read the full review of Samsung P2350 when clicked takes to Samsung P2250
so fuckin dumb.
I visit this often but was always 50% satisfied because it is not upto date.
Great review.. Thanks.
I would like to read an article about upcoming LED monitors.
When will LED monitors (I guess Benq V2200 and Samsung P2370L are LED backlit) be mainstream?
Is it worth waiting for them?
Is it okay to go for current LCD monitors ? I delayed my Deepavali purchase of a monitor because I was unclear. I had Samsung P2250 or 2350 Or Benq G2220 in mind. When I go for the LCD monitor, I wont be upgrading it in atleast 5 years. I am still using my old 15 in. Samsung CRT monitor :-)
the pop up that comes on each and every page ob the bottom of the site is soooo dammmmm irritating.Man please remove it or else people would stop coming onto this site
How come these sad monitors got editor choice? Talking about P2350 is a poor monitor which has been replaced by P2370 and after that P2370 has been replaced by newly XL2370 which is the currently the best monitor in 23 inch cat. available online from 12 oct 2009. Reviewing poor and out dated products. Even if they are available for cheap don't you guys think you shouldn't had made this article as best cheap monitors available in Indian Market? Instead of Best Monitors available. You guys are great but late.
@Outdated: I dont see the XL2370 listed on Samsung's India website. Where is it available online from 12th Oct 2009? Please clarify. I am in the market for a new monitor and hence the curiosity.
@Outdated...........Seems like ur talking out of your ass. P2370 only has DVI and isn't available in India. Plus that XL model dosent exist in the market so get ur facts straight first.
Nature is 16:10 .. the golden ratio "PHI". There seems to be something artificial in 16:9. I am sure the experts at these companies would have debated this and arrived at 16:9....i would like to know the reason
i agree with you. we need an article that enlightens us about such things rather than boring reviews all the time. but techtree never seems to do that. is anyone listening?
