We help you choose components to put together a basic PC
Final Build
What this will let you do?
Watch Full HD movies
Play music
Office and other productive work
Surf the Internet
Light/Casual gaming
Thanks to the strong onboard GPU that's derived from the 780G, you can easily play games like The Sims 3, StreetFighter IV, or anything on the Unreal 3 engine albeit at low settings. In fact, even full HD movies are not a problem when you use Media Player Classic: Home Cinema, which uses the GPU to decode the movie. Below is our entire PC at a glance.
So there you have it, our entry-level PC is ready. You can mix and match some of the components if you wish, but this guide should give you a good idea where to start. Next up is our "Jack of all trades" PC that will do pretty much anything but without breaking the bank, so stay tuned.
HI ROYDON
am not much of a computer man. planning to purchase assembled Dsktp? my vendor suggests: processor intel 2.6 dual core, Asus mb, Ram 1gb DDR2, HD 320GB, DVD wrt, Logitech Kb/Op mse, cabinet with smps. cost = 12000. am planning to go for LG/ samsung monitor 22'' with a TV tuner. what is the difference btwn LCD monitor and LCD TV. My uses are normal office work, internet, movies, photo, entry/mid level gaming and music in that order. your comments will be valuable?
MSI has released a 760 chipset mATX DDR-3 mobo. I'm not aware if it is available in India or not.
Since everyone is moving to DDR-3, I think 760 chipset with DDR-3 will be more appropriate. More so when DDR-2 & DDR-3 are priced nearly same now.....
ha-ha advertising sponsors dont you ???
no Intel,Kingston,Seagate etc. only AMD .and that g skill no one knows that monitor,Cabinet even they doesn't have a website shame for an it company.
When i tried to buy this motherboard (Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2 (740G Chipset) ) and Athlon II X2 240 Processor, many vendors told me that this mother board doesn't support this processor as the processor is AM3 socket and the board is AM2+ only. I got one vendor to test practically and got no display when tested.
Gigabyte site shows that AM3 socket CPU are supported but nowhere on the box show AM3 ready logo.
I believe techtree might have tested this combination, so am i missing anything here?
The CPU is fully supported by this motherboard. the box may not show it but if you check the CPU support list on their site, its there. That board you tried probably needed a BIOS update or was probably dead.

wow.... i got the gigabyte GAMA78GM-S2H (780g) last year arnd september.......good to see that its still relevent . it did break down once, however it was replaced promptly......
U can get an LG Flatron W1642S monitor for Rs4400 & the entry level price will drop from 20k to 16k & that monitor is just too expensive & who wants to spend Rs6000 on that.
I think its time to move on from CRTs. I suppose same was on the mind of reviewer while choosing it. You need to experience it once and you will not want to go back to your CRTs again.
Thank goodness CRT doesnt feature anymore in the cheap pc guide. If you cant do without them, you can look at the last entry level pc buying guide from last year
