Apple has quietly issued an update to the iPhone OS - which now finds itself graduated to version 3.1.2. All this coming barely a month after the arrival of the original 3.1 version might sound fishy, but it's not. So, if you were expecting huge changes and something really significant in terms of feature additions, this update isn't for you. The intention of this update seems only to fix some annoying bugs that surfaced in the post software 3.1 days.
The latest software update fixes the "coma mode" issue that had plagued users ever since they updated to 3.1 a few weeks ago. In the "coma mode", the phone simply refused to wake up from the sleep mode. Another issue that has been taken care of is regarding the network issues wherein the phone needs a restart before getting access to the network. Video streaming buffs can now heave a sigh of relief - thanks to this bugfix with software 3.1.2 that solves the annoying issue where the phone crashes while you are happily streaming videos. While this is just a minor update, the sheer size of the update might make you think otherwise. This one weighs in at a cool 302MB according to folks over at MacWorld. And yes, the update is available for the iPhone 3G, the original iPhone, and the iPod touch as well. Now, all you need to do is to start iTunes and click, click, click..
We wonder if they have done something to better the battery performance by a few hours.
The latest update has killed my iphone, it has stoped working, I cant even resore it. I got a no carrier error and a message that I had to restore, sadly I have to get a replacement today after the apple folks told me pretty much fixing it was not an option. I am wary of updating again each time a new problem came about. The latest fix was awful!
dude...did you have a jailbroken and unlocked phone ?? cos restoring it just brings it back to the original condition and it might not recognise the current service provider
