Soon after ATI launched Cypress, we now see HD5870s from other manufacturers slowly trickling in, and the first to hit our labs is the one from XFX. Today we have the standard edition of the HD5870, which goes by the same name. At the moment, there is no 'XXX' edition or 'Alpha Dog' edition of these cards, but you can expect them to come up later. For a more detailed run down on the HD5870 be sure to check our previous article here.

Since this is the standard edition the clock speeds and the design and build of the cooler remain exactly the same as the reference card. The core is clocked at 850MHz with the 1GB of GDDR5 memory running at 4800MHz. This brings along with it support for Shader Model 5.0 and OpenGL 3.2, which is possible thanks to the DX11 API.

The card came packed very well with plenty of sponge to keep the card intact. It's good to see XFX release a card in a normal box for once. As usual it has a lot of fancy artwork on the box, which is sure to attract any customer. Let's see what is inside the box.

as the Hd 5750 needs only a measly 86 W on load u will be fine with coolermasters 450 W + or any decent brand 500W +

well i bought the hd 4870x2 in the uk for a measly Rs. 19500, because i first saw the prices here at aroung 32500! with only 1 mainline distributor in our country [rp], its obvious they make a killing.

its not RP's fault , the prices are high because the government of india makes importers pay huge taxes which finally are passed on too us poor consumers , and if anyone has any doubts about this u can refer to the iPhone example , the things costs 250 $ in US and in india its arnd 32K so u get my point + if u ship it interntationally u wont get support in INDIA

You guys ought to switch to a Core i7/i5 machine. You are definitely going to be cpu limited with a 3.2 GHz X9770. Why don't you guys get an official explanation from Rashi Peripherals as to why their stuff costs so much ? Or are you scared that they would stop giving you stuff to test :P

You guys are absolutely correct. Instead of paying 10k extra to RP, might as well pay for international shipping from some trusted online retailer and get it for much cheaper
