Adobe makes a backdoor entry into Apple iPhone

Adobe did stump everyone with this one. While support for Flash is still a distant dream for iPhone's native Safari browser, no one thought Adobe would make a backdoor entry into Apple's territory by offering a compiler that will enable full flash applications to run on your pricey little iPhone.

So, what Adobe has done here is to add in a new nifty little feature to its upcoming Creative Suite 5 that will allow developers to code Flash based applications for the iPhone. All of which can be legally sent for distribution through Apple's App Store. Another notable thing is that there is no longer the need to have a Mac for developing iPhone apps. A plain Jane Windows PC is all you need now!

Having said all this, Apple's indifference towards Flash on its Safari browser continues. In fact, with most other smartphone platforms literally Flash ready, (S60 already had it), it will be interesting to see how long Apple continues to toe this line.

As for Adobe, the folks over there seem very interested in bringing AIR applications to smartphones as well. The idea is to make an all encompassing app that will not need to be ported to various platforms and is instead supported by all OS platforms natively. Additionally, Adobe is readying its very own AIR App Store as well.
