Known as the pioneer of netbooks, Asus has added yet another netbook to its Eee PC family. This time, Asus broke its 11-inch netbook limit and has come up with 12-inch Eee PC 1201n with Nvidia ION platform inside. Chinese site PCPOP.com revealed the exclusive details about upcoming EeePC1201n netbook. Asus is yet to officially announce this netbook.

Asus Eee PC 1201n has 12-inch display screen with 1366x768 pixel resolution supporting 720p HD content. In terms of hardware, Asus packed 1.6GHz Intel Atom processors, up to 2GB memory, 250GB SATA 5400RPM HDD, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth and Ethernet. Also, a 1.3 megapixel webcam comes built-in.

Just like Lenovo IdeaPad S12, Samsung N510 and HP 311 Mini, this netbook packs Nvidia ION technology. With Nvidia's legacy GeForce 9400M graphics chip inside, Asus also has jumped into the ION based netbook bandwagon. This GeForce 9400M is capable of playing 1080p HD content and supports other Nvidia technologies like PureVideo HD, PhysX and CUDA.

Intel is working on Nvidia ION competing platform based on two chip and cheaper platform dubbed Pine Trail M. This platform is expected to debut in CES 2010.

With a 6-cell battery, Eee PC 1201n netbook claims up to 11 hours battery life. Eee PC 1201n will come pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium. So, it's obvious that Asus will announce this netbook late October. No details on the pricing of the same were available.
