Roydon Cerejo, Sep 17, 2009 1200 hrs IST

22-inch full HD monitor that looks good and performs well too

Feature-rich, HDMI, four USB ports, stylish design, built-in webcam, good performance

Expensive, awkward placement of HDMI port

Yes, it's a Dell monitor, which I know is a pain to get hold of in certain parts of India, but that doesn't mean we leave it out. Today we have the full HD 22 incher with us, which comes with every possible feature you would want in a monitor and it sure is stylish. Just like its older cousin, the SP2309W, this one comes with four USB ports, all the connectors you could ask for (HDMI included), a 2MP webcam and 1920x1080 resolution. The panel used is a TN with a glossy finish, so pictures and videos look nice and sharp.

Bundle

We just received the monitor without any drivers or cables but you can expect these in the box.

  • Instrction manual
  • VGA cable
  • DVI cable
  • Stereo audio cable
  • USB upstream port
  • Power adapter

For the first time I've seen a 22-inch monitor with this type of power cable. It's not your regular three-pin connector but the kind you get with notebooks.

Yes there are also many LCD models that exist and are not on the site. Theres some issue going on with dell related to their pricing. I called them up today and they said for another 2-3 weeks they wont be selling LCD monitors above 18" due to some taxes that the Indian government has imposed on them and which dell does not agree to. I hope this gets over fast, i was looking at dell as a possible buy, but now i guess ill have to reconsider.

Dell realy going down these days. 1st of all when i called customer care they said they dont sell monitors above 18 inch these days. W T F? 2nd i had been asking for dell CC from Jan 2009 for dell USharp 2209wa and they r keep on saying it will be here next month. W T F? This yr is almost over and still same recorded ansers from their jerk CC guys. 3rd for dell xps 16 in us,uk even in malyasia dell xps offer 1gb of 4670 gpu but here still no option for this card , i mean xps is targeted towards gamers, but they only sell out-dated products in india, which has been dumped by others countries, with full price tag of latest products. W T F? 4th dell site is mess they show all products there without showing their price and even the products that is not availabe here. W T F? why they dont only show products which are availabe here in I n d i a. 5th dell opned their outlets in india now but they only deal with laps their. This is realy W T F. Dell is now in my shit-list. I ordered Samsung XL2370 which will hit indian shore in Oct. said to my by samsung disti. in delhi. And looking/waiting for some other better brand for purchasing Lappy instead of purshasing for dell. I had enough for Dell-India(Dull-India).

Spot on! Just a couple of week back I enquired about 24' monitor at lamington road in Mumbai, a Model S2409w was availabel for Rs.15,000/-. Samsung 24' was for Rs.12000/-. Only +ve was Dell was having HDMI port. But full 3000 for one port. I checked for review on net and it's performance was similar to Samsung. Dell india website does not show this model. On online market may be in US it's price was 200 to 250 US$, even if v convert 1$ = 50 Rupees it's cheaper. It seems the US companies are losing in pricing. Just see the MS OSs pricing and one will realize.
