As we draw near to Microsoft's big OS launch, every segment of the industry is gearing up with their 'Windows 7-ready' products and services. It's already begun actually with all the current batches of graphics and monitors now sporting the '7-ready' stickers. Netbooks too will soon sport Windows 7 instead of XP and according to Microsoft we'll have a special stripped down version of 7 designed especially for the Netbooks.

This article is for all Netbook owners who are contemplating on switching over to Windows 7 but are skeptical about taking the plunge. Today we'll be comparing the performance of Windows XP and Windows 7 to see if the latter does indeed deliver a smooth operating experience or even matches that of Windows XP. Vista was a bad idea for Netbooks, which is one of the reasons Windows XP is still prevalent. But Windows 7, just like Vista, offers you a lot more features in terms of the look and feel, ease of use and of course Aero. Now, I know you're going to say that you can get all these features in Linux as well, but to be honest the masses are more accustomed to Windows, so chances of them using Windows 7 is greater. So let's prep our Netbook for the install and see what the results are.

Your review for net-book did not include battery power consumption this is realy a sad thing. The review is not complete without it.

You guys didnt tell us about battery life. In my experience, 7 drains the battery a little faster than XP. Tell me the truth, you purposely concealed those facts didnt you?

Yah.. Win7 is definitely a good OS. I have installed and tried it on my laptop with Sun virtual box having (4 GB RAM, 2.1 C2D) as well on Desktop with (1 GB RAM and 2.6GHZ Dual core CPU). Both ran very smoothly. Far better then Vista. Surely it can replace XP which still a most stable OS of MS ever built. After using the developer edition, I just preordered upgrade from Amazon for my laptop !!!

Abe sadele how many Netbooks have you tried installing Windows 7 on?? Its easy to pass comments when you're just rolling joints on the side of the road man. Go try it and then open the gutter of a mouth you have.
