Xbox 360 Pro and Lite to See Price Cut Soon

A Target Ad shows that price cut will be levied on Microsoft Xbox 360 Pro 60GB HDD and Xbox 360 Elite 120GB HDD models soon. More than a week back, Kotaku had reported that Xbox 320 Elite price cut will align the 120GB HDD bearing model price in accordance with Xbox 360 Pro (60GB HDD) model.
The price cut is bound to come since Sony has announced new PS3 Slim. There's no official word on whether Xbox 360 Pro would be discontinued or would enjoy the price cut.
An image from Meijer catalogue stated that the price cut would be levied from Aug 30. At the moment, Xbox 360 Pro is available for $299 (Rs. 14,400 approx.) while the Xbox 360 Elite is available for $399 (Rs. 19,200 approx.). Now, Engadget showed screenshot of a new Target Ad that states price cut information about Xbox 360 Pro and Elite models.
As per the Target Ad, Xbox 360 Pro with 60GB HDD will be sold for $249 (Rs. 12,000 approx.) with a free additional controller worth $49.99 (Rs. 2,400 approx.). The Xbox 360 Elite will be available for price of $299 (Rs. 14,400 approx.) with $100 price cut from $399 (Rs. 19,200 approx.).
After the price cut, Xbox 360 Pro will cost as much as Nintendo Wii - $249 (Rs. 12,000 approx.). On the other hand, Xbox 360 Elite model with 120GB HDD will cost as much as the upcoming PlayStation 3 Slim with 120GB HDD as well.
Microsoft has played a smart game by levying a price cut to combat Xbox 360 Pro with Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 Elite model with upcoming PS3 Slim. Discount on existing consoles is good proposition in lieu of launching a new console. However, we know not what will happen to the basic Xbox 360 Arcade console. It's still not clear whether the Xbox 360 Pro and Elite price cuts would be applicable to the rest of the world as well. We'll have to wait until Aug. 30, it seems.
