On October 1, the new Minis section will be made available on PlayStation Store in North American and European/PAL system supporting regions. This service will co-exist along with the launch of PSPgo and will offer fifteen games initially across wide variety of genres.
Sony has designed development process of "Mini" games for easy adoption and implementation by game development studios of any size. Electronic Arts will offer classic games like Tetris and Sudoku that will join about 50 games promised by the end of this year.
In a twisted way, PSP Minis will be compared with Apple's App Store service which has number of games on its most selling apps lists. However, Minis is a wise step by Sony to offer digital media content for their handheld console.
Sony also announced much-demanded Digital Reader for the PSP owners that'll convert the gaming console into digital reader.
Digital Reader service will be launched with Digital Comics in December for US and Europe's PAL regions in 2010. PSP owners will be able to access big library of Digital Comics from leading publishers like Marvel, IDW publishing, iVerse media and many more.
The intuitive Autoflow feature will allow PSP owners to zoom in and move from frame to frame on each page of digital comics. Hundreds of classic and contemporary comics would be downloadable from the PlayStation Store to be read on PSP. Firstly, the Digital Reader app needs to be downloaded from the PS Store to gain access, download and read hundreds of comics. We'll have to wait till December and see if this Digital Reader can be used to read eBooks as well.
Both Minis and Digital Reader service will arrive in last quarter for US and Europe so rest of the world will have to wait till early 2010 to access it from PlayStation Store.
Well am talking about INDIAN point of view....psp without umd, wud not b a great move into future..1st the PSP is known for its portability which makes it a perfect getaway gadget, will be lost.. how can u just download things when say travelling in trains, buses or hiking high alt with no network !! even i own a psp3000 and psp beats all hands down other competitors on portability with good battery, now when u will b travelling, u cant get much backup while surfing on it trying to download games.. UMD is still much better option and will also b in future, thts wht i think, but yeah.. like e-reader facility & other apps downloading is fine but for gaming UMD is perfect
