  Loud, build, volume control, USB powered (no battery), power ON LED

  Uses up a USB port & drains power from laptop, extra stereo cable, poor portability, cracks past 40 percent volume levels, volume balance is off

It was only recently that we reviewed laptop speakers from Philips, the Philips USB Notebook Speakers. The speakers delivered a good performance and felt appropriate for use with laptops. Though there was nothing premium about them, its pricing makes it value for money. Today we have with us a pair of speakers from Altec Lansing; the BXR1220. Coming from Altec Lansing, chances are that these could be a better option that the ones from Philips.
