Prasad Naik, Aug 16, 2009 1000 hrs IST

Simple app for Twitter users to stay connected

Simple UI, sufficient amount of features, well-priced

Cannot save data from previous session after shutdown, boring design with no customization

We have reviewed the Gravity in the past; a solid application for Twitter users that stood head and shoulders above the ones that came before it. Today we have for you another Twitter application that claims to be the best Twitter application available on S60. We download it on to our phones to see if it matches its claim.

Twittix is software made by Viking Informatics, known for their application Mp3Player that were found on many old S60 phones back when Nokia did not have their own music player app. It is marketed and sold by Mojos Studio. It is a native S60 application and thus has some advantages over its java counterparts. It supports S60 3rd Edition and 5th Edition but not previous versions. So if you have an old 6600, then you are out of luck.

To download the application, you need to head over to their website, http://www.mojosmobile.com/studios/twittix.html. From there you can download a demo version if you want to try it for a few days (although the exact duration of the demo is not clear). You can buy the software from the site if you wish to.

The application is about 636 KB in size and took about 469 KB after installing on my N82. The application can use either GPRS or Wi-Fi to connect to Twitter, but it is advisable to use the latter since it is faster. Also, if you are on a pay per use data plan then you'll be spending quite a bit as Twittix downloads a lot of data.
