    IM App for Android announced

Untill some time back, Nimbuzz, the popular IM and VoIP client, had no version available for the Android platform, which was not something truly great, considering the fact that the Android platform is one of the most "looked forward" to amongst modern day mobile OSes.

But the glaring omission came to an end a few days ago when Nimbuzz announced the availability of the Android version of the IM client. The Nimbuzz blog posted details about the new Nimbuzz version for Android. This version boasts of some features that are unique (as of now, we hope) to the Android platform.

The Android version of Nimbuzz features Skype and local social network support, a time-sensitive user interface, home-screen notifications, auto-reconnect, and clickable URLs within the chat window. Then there is the smart buddy list layout that displays information in an intelligent way, combining avatar and presence information in one. If you're still wondering what in Earth a "time sensitive UI " is, let us clarify that its just a function which detects how long you press on a buddy's name and the "strength" of your touch decides what to do with the buddy, chat with him or just view his/her profile. Another cool feature addition is the inclusion of homescreen alerts whilst the application is running in the background.

Then there is the Auto reconnect option which detects loss in connectivity and tries to switch to another access point if one fails. This is useful if you are on a Wi-Fi network and when you accidentally go out of range, it switches to a 3G/GSM network, without the user intervening! For more on Nimbuzz for Android, head here!
