Remember the Sony Ericsson Jalou we had talked about just last week? There was a "leaked" picture of the new shown as well. That of course was false positive as the device was just an imaginary concept by a member of Esato forums.

A week on, we now have confirmed existence of the brand Jalou. It turns out that the Jalou happens to be a fashion phone and not a Symbian smartphone as it was touted earlier. In fact, the Jalou seems similar to the "Bao" concept we had seen just last month. The Jalou, as evident from the images is designed for women and girls and is being touted as being "shorter than your favorite lipstick" - and at just 73mm in length, it is not exaggerating the claim!

The Jalou is a clamshell device that comes with a 2-inch QVGA display that doubles up as a mirror at the press of a button. The Quad-band GSM enabled device also supports tri-band UMTS/HSPA connectivity. On the imaging side of things there is the 3.2 megapixel camera with support for video recording. Other features include Bluetooth 2.0, music player with TrackID and PlayNow, YouTube, integrated Google search and Google maps applications and support for email and instant messenger.

The Jalou will be released in the fourth quarter of 2009, in three colors: Aquamarine Blue, Onyx Black and Deep Amethyst. Its price is not known at the moment. Sony Ericsson has also announced the Jalou by Dolce&Gabbana limited edition. This phone has the same specs as the regular Jalou but will come with excusive Dolce&Gabbana content.
