Amazon is now taking pre-orders for Apple's new Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. In June, Apple had announced Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard at the Worldwide Developer Conference 2009 held in San Francisco. The price of Mac OS X Snow Leopard remains the same. Mac OS X Snow Leopard Server, Mac Box Set (include iWork and iLife) and Mac Box Family Pack with 5 user licenses are being offered for pre-order.

Apple's Snow Leopard upgrade for OS X 10.5 Leopard users is offered for the same price $29 (Rs. 1,400 approx.) and the family-pack with five user licenses for $49 (Rs. 2,400 approx.). The Mac Box Set with Snow Leopard that has iWork and iLife suites bundled is available for $169 (Rs. 8,200 approx.) and the Mac Box Set Family Pack with five user licenses costs $229 (Rs. 11,040 approx.).

Do take note of Apple's Up-To-Date Program that is applicable on new Mac systems purchased between June 8 and Dec. 29 this year. Under this program, the new Mac systems buyers would be able to get Snow Leopard upgrade for $9.95 (Rs. 500 approx.). To avail this discount, buyers must postmark or fax their completed order form within 90 days of the purchase date of qualifying Mac machine or by Dec. 29, whichever is earlier.

I do not understand the relevance of this story for India. At that Amazon site, the order can be given only for USA clients. As a Mac Owner I want to know when Snow Leopard will be available in India and the price.

Why, even if I had a Mac I would wait and see how it works before buying it. I am one of the 10,000 or so who signed the bring back the matte screen option to Apple. If they do I will get a Mac.
