Opera recently released its latest "State Of the Mobile Web" report for the month of June. The world's most popular mobile browser has seen a growth in userbase of over 4.2 percent globally since May 2009 and over 143 percent over the past year. The page views have increased by over 8 percent over the figures for the month of May and for the first time, breached the 10 billion mark.
By June 2009, Opera had a huge user base of 26.5 million unique users who viewed more than 10.4 billion web pages in all, in just a month. Since most of the web page processing is done by the Opera Servers, the servers handled 346 million pages per day! Just for the comparisons sake, there has been a 224 percent increase in page views from June 2008.
The top 10 countries for Opera Mini usage in June are (in order): Russia, Indonesia, India, China, Ukraine, South Africa, U.S., U.K., Poland, Nigeria. India has been on a continuous growth path and has now pipped China to the fourth place in the overall usage standings. Worldwide, Nokia phones continue to be the handsets of preference for Opera Mini users, with Sony Ericsson claiming on the second place. BlackBerry and Samsung phones are the preference in U.S.
Some other interesting tidbits revealed: - Google is the number one most visited site in all the countries, with the exception of Costa Rica, where Hi5 takes the number 1 spot. - Facebook remains the most popular social network in North America, while Hi5 is the most popular social network for mobile phones the Caribbean.
With such an impressive growth pattern and track record, Opera seems confident about Opera Mini's unabated growth to continue for the months to come.
