New homepage is all about trending topics on the site through a big search box
As mentioned earlier, Twitter, a popular micro-blogging service portal, has revamped and launched its new homepage. This new Twitter homepage is pretty blue (hope it doesn't give blues) and is mostly focused on search. Let's hope that the new homepage facelift helps Twitter to retain the dropping number of users that leave in a month of signup.
First thing noticeable on the new home page is the list of trending topics offered by time duration - minute, day and week. Also, there's a search bar right on the homepage, almost like a search engine. The new homepage looks concise and has pretty much less text than the old homepage.
The existing Twitter users will be able to sign in without leaving the page through new drop-down style login box. Note that this homepage is visible only before logging into the Twitter. After logging in, users won't get to see any new visible change. Twitter Co-founder Biz Stone mentioned on the Twitter blog, "Twitter has moved from simple social networking into a new kind of communication and a valuable source of timely information." This is so much true as Twitter now pushes forward Trends and Search to see what people are talking about or updating.
Twitter has been holding loads of updates though in 140 characters each. The portal had recently introduced the 'Twitter 101 guide for businesses'. However, users who joined this micro-blogging service last year can't see their older tweets. Ever their search.twitter.com portal doesn't show up old updates from users. Hopefully, the Twitter team will take care of it over a period of time as they're taking care of the Twitter Spam.
