    SkyFire's BlackBerry Browser Plans Hit

Due to a breach in the Non Disclosure Agreement by an Alpha tester

Back in May, while announcing the graduation of Skyfire from its Beta program, we had mentioned about the Alpha program for BlackBerry devices that SkyFire had just introduced.

The project seemed well on course and we would have seen it migrate to Beta in the not too distant future. BUT, thanks to a breach in the Non Disclosure Agreement by an Alpha tester, the program has been called off by the folks at SkyFire - albeit temporarily.

It was just yesterday that Skyfire announced the hold on the program after it figured out that the program had been leaked and hence, the NDA violated. When it was leaked, users were trying the browser on BlackBerry Curve models and the Storm as well. The browser was not intended for these devices and was only for use on the BlackBerry Bold. Another reason for the pull out was the possible negative publicity emanating by a possible leak.

In fact, back in April, an image of Skyfire running on a BlackBerry was leaked. As of now, there is no information as to when we can expect the program to be re-opened.
