It will be known as the X3, not X5 as previously thought
It was just last week that we reported about the leak of the Rachael, the Android based stunner of a phone from Sony Ericsson. The phone sure made us take a second glance at it. While it was a stunner visually, little was known about the feature set this was going to sport. If that was not all, the reports termed the phone to be the Xperia X5.
Fast forward a week and we have online retailer Expansys posting a page with a detailed description of a phone that is none other than the Rachael and surprisingly, this one comes with the "X3" tag and not the X5 as most had expected. So, will the X5 be something more feature packed the X3? Only time will tell. Or it might be that the X5 will sport a higher resolution camera (12 megapixel?)
The Rachael might as well be the phone that could turn around Sony Ericsson's fledgling fortunes. The company has been struggling to maintain its overall standing in the market thanks to increased competition from the likes of Apple, Samsung and LG. That, coupled with an unexciting product line, almost spelled doom for the company.
Coming to the specs, we are sure this one will impress you. The phone runs Android OS and will sport an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus, image stabilization, face detection, smile shutter, LED flash and VGA video recording. Here's a run down of the specs that the Expansys page talks about. We guess this should keep you a happy lot.
Dual-band 3G (900/2100 MHz) with HSDPA 10Mbps and HSUPA 2Mbps
4 inches touchscreen display with 800 x 400 pixels
Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11g
A-GPS
Bluetooth 2.1
3.5mm audio jack
E-mail (POP3, IMAP4, SMTP, MS Exchange)
MiniUSB
MicroSDHC card support
The most "looked forward to" feature of the Rachael is nothing but its customized UI, which runs above the Android platform. The video of the same was leaked not long ago. Here's the video again for your viewing pleasure.
The real exciting part that they arent reporting is the processor is the 1GHZ snapdragon- the most powerful processor to grace a phone. This'll be the first android more powerful than any iphone
