Picture this. You're a big BlackBerry fan and you happen to own a Mac. Until now, if you had to even sync your BlackBerry stuff with the Mac you had to be dependent on third party programs. Not a very pleasurable experience.
Not any longer! Folks over at RIM seem to have had enough and have announced in a blog post yesterday that very soon, (as in September 2009) a Mac version of the BlackBerry Desktop will make its debut - making things easier for Mac users stuck with a BlackBerry. Mac users will now be able to easily sync iTunes playlists, contacts, notes, calendar and other stuff to their BlackBerrys. Software updates, installing applications and a whole lot of "never seen before" functionalities (on Mac) will finally be possible using a Mac. This was earlier only limited to Windows.
On the flip side, the OS support seems to be restricted as only Mac OS X versions 10.5.5 and above will be supported. This means, if you happen to own a MAC running an older version of the OS, life hasn't become any easier. In any case, if you need to be notified whenever the software does make its appearance, sign up here.
