Sony WALKMAN NWZ-W202: Wireless MP3 Player

Prasad Naik, Jul 15, 2009 1855 hrs IST

Excellent device to carry along to the gym

Design, audio quality, easy to use, good battery life

Navigating through large amounts of music is a pain, not comfortable for extended usage, a bit expensive

Sony is starting a new range of Walkman players, the W-series, and the first of them, the W202 has landed on our shores and we at Techtree are the first ones to bring it to you. This attractive player has been primarily designed for those who like to listen to their music while exercising, and hence features a unique wireless, behind the neck type of design that rests on your ears.

This gives you the freedom of going about your activities without having to worry about the player in your pocket or wires coming in your way. It also features the new Zappin feature that lets you listen to few seconds of a song for you to identify it. We spent sometime with this interesting player to tell you our opinion on how good this little device from Sony is.

Looks good...though what if the speakers stop working. Would spares be available easily?

It is useful if FM is available.

Hope someday someone deliver just a wireless headset in half this form factor. Hopefully if they pull out all parts that go for the MP3 from this headset, it will turn out to be a real rival for Motorola S9. For lots of outdoor runners like me out there, even a motola S9 is a pain in the neck after some prolonged usage. @Prasad Naik: Dude. there are a lots of cheap arm bands that hold your mobile intact for this. Else simply use a velcro tape to stick your phone arnd ur hands / legs

Wouldn't you then need to carry your phone with you as well? I don't think it is comfortable to run with a mobile phone in your pocket.

I really like the concept of A2DP but don't want extra radio waves around my brain. This is nice, wireless, waveless ...

Hey TT, will this player work as a A2DP headset like motorola S9 for my phone?

No. It will NOT work as a headset. It is just like any other MP3 player, just the form factor is different.
