Apple currently updated its iPhone line up with the new iPhone 3GS and everyone is drooling over its 3 megapixel camera. So, after new iPhone 3GS everyone's focus slow shifts to iPod Touch upgrade. MacRumors and TechCrunch report that Apple will bring next generation iPod Touch with camera.

Back in April, DigiTimes reported that OmniVision had received order of 3.2 megapixel CMOS Image Sensor for Apple's next-generation iPhone. Also, an order of 5-megapixel CIS was secured for an Apple product is expected to be launched later this year.

MacRumors showed up two case images for iPod Touch and iPod Nano. This means that next generation iPod Touch and iPod Nano are likely to have camera at the back. The first image from Uxsight is of case listed as "New iPod Touch 3G" that has the camera hold on its back. This image however has been pulled down by the site.

Another image from DealXtreme of 'Protective Silicone Case for iPod Nano 5' shows a hole on the backside of the case. It is being speculated to be meant for camera.

Apple probably wants to make the iPhone OS updates (current and future) for iPod Touch worth paying for. At this moment, not everyone is paying $10 (Rs. 480 approx.) for the iPhone OS 3.0 software update for their iPod Touch. Apple's product update cycle for iPods falls in September and we'll have to hold our horses till proper details on the same come out.
