    Microsoft Withdraws Controversial Ad

Microsoft has sheepishly withdrawn one of its latest Internet Explorer ads that aims to highlight the browsers Private Browsing abilities.

The ad shows a wife discovering her husbands online porn exploits by looking at the browser history and then vomiting (on screen) as a way to express her disgust. The ad features TV superman Dean Cain who asks the audience to switch to Internet Explorer to browse privately to avoid such situations.

The ad however seemed to have backfired as some customers and viewers found it a bit offensive - thanks to the lady vomiting incessantly. Soon after the first complains started pouring in Microsoft quietly withdrew the ads from its Better Browser IE centric website and also from the IE8 channel on YouTube.

Even though the ad might have backfired, to some extent, it is a welcome departure from its usually unexciting ads. You can check out the withdrawn ad here:

This ad will get even more attention now that it was pulled. Smart move by microsoft.
