When we talk of freeware, more often than not we think of Free Antivirus or Browsers or Office suites and so on. But there are loads of great free apps that are not so popular yet. Here's a small bunch that you would surely want to get your hands on.
Flux
Here's something really strange; rather something I never really thought about. We are talking about Flux, a software that alters the temperature of your computer screen to suit the time of the day. But why would anyone care about that? Well, the argument is that a computer screen's brightness is designed for the day but when day turns night, the screen becomes too bright to view. Yes, you can manually alter that but with the freebie Flux, why bother?
The default setting is 3400K for night and 6500K for daytime, which means writers, readers and internet surfers will really appreciate the lack of white eye-piercingly blinding backgrounds of most websites at night. This software isn't recommended for designers, as colour shades will definitely change as per the day and night cycle; which can be disabled with Flux when required.
Flux is available for Windows, Mac and Linux and can be downloaded from here.
Note: Some overzealous Anti-viruses flag this software as a Trojan, which isn't true!
