Be as open or as limited in sharing information as you want
Facebook seems to be committed to tighten the screws of its privacy and 'tools for tailoring' features for its members, so it says in its latest blog post. The social networking website has incorporated several measures in this respect based on the three principles of Privacy, Control, and Connection.
The website will be offering 'a bunch of people' something called the Transition Tool which will enable them to define the level of information to be shared with other users.
Yes, they already have the feature that allows users to define which contact of yours can access what data, but the new tool will apparently take privacy settings a notch higher.
According to Chris Kelly, Facebook's chief privacy officer, the Transition Tool will enable users to make available those parts of their profile that they feel comfortable sharing in order to facilitate better connection. Users will have the choice of being as open or as limited in the sharing of this information as they want.
Timeline
In March, Facebook added an "Everyone" option to give people more control and enable them to share more broadly if they want, something that wasn't possible on Facebook before.
A few weeks ago, Facebook had also launched an interface that enables users to use the website in a number of languages.
In the coming days too, Facebook says it intends to improve privacy on the site by launching a series of tests that guide people to new, simpler tools of control and connection.
