Now, you can drag emails directly to the labels, as you can do with folders
If you were eagerly waiting for drag and drop to come to Gmail, rejoice! It's finally here! Most Gmail users woke up early morning to find out some whacky changes to the popular web mail - the main change being the ability to drag and drop emails to labels.
Other changes include the shift of the labels option to a new location on the left side bar. It's now located above the "Chats" section and you can now choose what labels you would like to see there. The other labels will of course be accessible via a drop down menu, another new feature addition.
Additionally, the settings tab now gets an entire section dedicated to labels where you can heavily customize them. If you are the kind who does not prefer this labels thing at all, you can just hide them all as well.
Coming back to drag and drop, the main and the most sought after feature addition, you can now drag emails directly to the labels, as you can do with folders. Conversely, you can drag labels on to mails as well. To drag emails, all you need to do is to hover your mouse pointer over the "dots" you see beside the email title till the "hand" icon appears (see image) and then click and drag. The addition of this feature also means the labs feature "Right-side Labels" will get the boot. This interestingly becomes the first Gmail Labs feature to be retired. For those who preferred right side labels, a possible work around would be to select right side chats instead, in Labs of course.
This is a good feature but has stopped the Folders4Gmail script from working which, in my eyes, is a much more important feature Google need to implement asap!
