The price of this phone might head southwards in the not too distant future
Nokia's recently launched flagship N-Series touchscreen device, the N97 will retail in India at a price of Rs. 36,119. The phone was, until recently, available through pre-order and it is only now that Nokia has revealed the exact retail pricing of the device. The pricing of the device puts it in the league of the iPhone 3G and the likes. However, it remains to be seen if the demand for the phone sees a dip, now that the actual pricing has been revealed.
The price of Rs.36,119, however, does not come as a surprise as it was expected that the N97 would be priced at around the 35K mark. In fact, in Techtree's review of the handset, we had made this fact clear as well. The saving grace of the N97 is that unlike the iPhone, which has more or less remained in the same price range ever since launch, the price of this phone might head southwards in the not too distant future.
The N97 runs Series 60 Fifth Edition OS and comes loaded with novel features. If you think you can't afford the phone at this price, but are desperate to get one, you have two options. Participate in the Nokia N97 contest (which unfortunately has now ended) or buy it on EMIs. That's correct! Nokia has tied up with HDFC Bank and Citibank to provide a three month EMI option to consumers in select Nokia Branded Retail outlets in select cities. So, there you go! Are you getting one?
n97 is sleek and effective but its functioning may be a bit slower with 34gb of internal memory.the phone does'nt come with safety covers so more chance pf getting damaged by droping.the os of the phone may be improved to s 60 9th version.phone looks cool but price range is unmatched.it might be between 25-30 to be a potensial competitor for iphone.some of the features like interchangable baterry and sim keeps nokia top from iphone as iphone lacks these features and even qwerty keyboard may be of great feature for nokia
man this phone is so overpriced like all other phone.wail for just a 6 to 8 month and see the price of this phone come down.i used the phone but i am not very impressed with the touchscreen it is not thumb friendly and more stylus friendly.and the phone donot have a virtual keyboard which means while web browsing u always have to hold the phone in two hand.
This is outrageously priced. 37000 is too much man, you can get the best of the best laptops. Look at Nokia 5800 xpress music, its at 19000 Rs but gives you almost everything other that physical qwerty it has on-screen qwerty and used the same Symbiam S60 v 5 OS. You dont really need 5 MP camera, 3.5 is more than sufficient and delivers extremely crisp pics and videos.
I am not burning 37000 in times of recession...come on Nokia India what happened to your market sense, you could have sold billions of sets had you priced it reasonably. This is just an ounce better that Nokia 5800 (Uses the same OS - Symbian S60v5), so price shouldnt be more than 25K
I owned the N97 for a brief period here in NY but the phone still has a lot of technical issues that need to be sorted out. Support is low and expectations ride high esp when u pay 750 $ for a phone. All in all not nokia's best piece. Returned it on Day 7 for full refund
i took demo of the fone today, its great to operate the phone, i like it. need to take more time to have full experience of the device. great at first sight. especially the upward slider concept, which means lesser scratches in the sliding faces. only drawback i found was small 5-way navigation key. else all is great. far slimmer than E90-near half in thickness. worth the money.
