Lenovo's ThinkPad Series, which is known for its bulky laptops, finally broke the trend to launch a new slim T400s laptop. Thin and lighter is the 'in-thing' for business class users and Lenovo has taken that into consideration for its new ThinkPad T400s. This model should not to be confused with the existing T400. T400s is an inch thick at its thinnest point, weighs about 2 kgs and comes with an Solid State Drive option. Lenovo ThinkPad T400s is available starting $1599 (Rs. 77,900 approx.).

Lenovo has packed ThinkPad T400s into carbon fibre frame to keep the weight down along with SSD and LED display options. Apt for office environments, ThinkPad T400s offers a choice between appropriate configurations. Users get an option to choose between Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz and 2.53 GHz process along with SSD drive of up to 128 in option to 250GB HDD.

ThinkPad T400s runs Windows XP downgraded from Windows Vista Business and has 14.1-inch WXGA+ TFT display with LED Backlight. With support for up to 8GB DDR3 1066MHz memory, this notebook has Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics power. Also, an option to choose between slim DVD burner and Blu-ray drive is offered. Internet connectivity options include Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth, and optional WWAN/ultrawideband/WiMAX connectivity. For multimedia cards, one can choose between ExpressCard slot and 5-in-1 media card reader.

The DisplayPort and VGA port will enable hooking up two monitors and built-in USB/eSATA port promises faster data transfer option. Keyboard is reworked by reducing space between keys and two keys appear to be bit larger than usual - Esc and Del keys. Better and louder on-board speakers for VoIP or podcasting have been provided. Also, a physical mute button lies on the keyboard for the built-in mic.

New ThinkPad T400s looks like a decent light weight and slim laptop option for business folks. However, the final verdict will come out after testing the notebook.

Lenovo's ThinkPad Series, which is known for its bulky laptops, finally broke the trend to launch a new slim T400s laptop. Thinkpads are known for their quality. Are you serious when you say they are known for being bulky? Do you even acknowledge Thinkpad X-series are very thin and light? Do you know that Thinkpad X301 is on par with Mac Book Air in being thin and light?
