t the Worldwide Developer Conference held recently, Apple had announced that the next Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard will be available from Sept. 19 onwards. Furthermore, the company has put up 'Up-To-Date' program details for folks willing to buy new Mac systems with Snow Leopard upgrade options. Apple's 'Up-To-Date' program applies to Mac systems purchased after June 8 and will end on Dec. 29 this year.

Apple will offer Snow Leopard upgrade option for $29 (Rs. 1,400 approx.). The folks who purchase new Mac systems between June 8 and Dec. 29 this year would be able to opt in for 'Up-To-Date' program. These buyers can apply for Snow Leopard upgrade for $9.95 (Rs. 478 approx.) under this program.

Check the list of qualifying new Mac computers by Apple here.

Apple notes that: Completed order form must be postmarked or faxed within 90 days of the date of purchase of a qualifying computer or by December 26, 2009, whichever is earlier.

New Mac system buyers will get Mac OS X Snow Leopard for just $9.95 (Rs. 478 approx.) which is relatively cheaper than $29 (Rs. 1,400 approx.) upgrade option for Mac owners who purchased their systems before June 8. This indeed is an interesting sales trick that is expected to boost Mac computer sales along with wider Snow Leopard acceptance.

Now all eyes are on Microsoft to out Windows 7 price list. But the recent cold war with EU about Windows 7 sans IE web browser might slow things down from Microsoft's end.
