Samsung has announced two new Omnia series smartphones at the Samsung Unpacked event. New Samsung i8000 is the Omnia II (Omnia2 as we thought earlier) and is successor of Omnia phone. Along with it comes the new Samsung OmniaLITE (B7300) that will join the B7610 and B7320, the existing Omnia PRO phones. Of these, Omnia II features a new version of TouchWiz 2.0 widget-based interface. All these Omnia phones would be available later this year, as Samsung officials mentioned at the launch.
Samsung i8000 Omnia II has 3.7-inch AMOLED (Active-Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) WQVGA touchscreen display. This 800x480 pixel touchscreen displays brighter and vibrant colors. Omnia II features a faster 800MHz processor and this faster CPU speed bump started with Asus P565. Following the legacy of new Omni PRO phones, Omnia II features 5.0 megapixel camera with face detection, geo-tagging and other imagery goodies. Mobile web browsing experience is promised.

Looking at the specifications, it appears that Samsung will offer Omnia II in three different versions based on internal memory - 2GB, 8GB and 16GB. Also, the Windows Mobile 6.1 will support the Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrade whenever it's out.
New Samsung Omnia LITE (B7300) also joins the Omnia family and as the name suggests, this phone would be lightweight on features and might be cheaper. Omnia LITE features 3.2-inch 320x400 pixel TFT LCD touchscreen. Like the new Omnia II, Samsung has added the new TouchWiz 2.0 interface in Omnia LITE as well with downloadable widgets support. For imaging, Omnia LITE feature 3 megapixel camera and will have "multi-codec supported high-quality video" support.
Omnia LITE's network connectivity will feature Quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE, HSDPA and WiFi along with built-in A-GPS for location-based service usage. Loaded with business features like Microsoft Office Suite pre-installed with ensure editing/viewing MS office documents and also push email support. This phone will come pre-loaded with Opera Browser.
