Looks like Nokia is high on the heels after the success of the XpressMusic 5800 - its first full touchscreen operational phone. Now, the Finnish handset maker has ventured out to create a masterpiece of a handset based on the same touchscreen concept. The handset is titled the N97. Since then, the phone has been much awaited. After its appearance in a music video (Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling), the handset's specs, expected dates and suspected prices have emerged on the web. I can say that Nokia has truly developed a flagship of a handset, since I've the Nokia N97 with me at the moment. So here's a quick round up of what are my first impressions of the phone before I give the complete low down on it.

First things first. We created an unboxing video of the Nokia N97 as soon as it arrived at our test-labs. If you haven't checked out the video in our videos section as yet, you can watch it here.

Once we were done with the unboxing, I opened up the phone and had a battery fitted to start up the device. Even with the battery in the phone, the device doesn't feel all that heavy. The Nokia N97 starts up in the traditional 'Nokia Connecting People' style. The phone hardly takes time to startup, i.e. once you're done with the initial setup that's prevalent in all phones for the first time it's used.

The phone has a very premium feel to it. The use of chrome and high quality rubberized plastics give a great and comforting feel to the handset.

The most noticeably things of the N97 physically are its large screen and an odd menu button on the face of the phone along with two touch calling buttons.

There is a keypad lock switch on the right. Also, there is a micro USB port which can be used for connectivity as well as charging. However, this port is left unprotected.

There is a 3.5mm jack for plugging in your choice of headphones or earphones. The memory card slot for further expanding the huge internal storage of 32GB is placed under the battery cover.

I have seeen your review and looks like you have given much more compliments than what NOKIA desreves. First of all NOKIA is very good in releasing products with lot of software glitches and i suggest techtree to visit any of nokia's service centre to capture the woes of millions of customers. Aftre releasing a bad product nokia doesn't even bother to rectify the mistake and the service is awful. Do not spoil techtress reputation by giving weird reviews.

man you're review was acceptable enough, but you haven't mentioned absolutely nothing about the phone's touch interface.

Since this is titled "First Impressions", I guess the reviewer was given a limited amount of time to handle the phone. I think the full review would be coming up next.
