Through a software called "Green Dam-Youth Escort"

After China's last year's extreme internet censorship debacle, now the 'Chinese responsible government' is all set to save the country's youth, starting July 1.

How?

The Chinese government's plan is that every computer sold in the country shall include software called "Green Dam-Youth Escort" that will automatically hinder accessing certain Internet content. It will apparently also filter out websites that have been officially blocked by the government. The software will include a list that will automatically get updated when connected to the internet.

The purpose of this restricted content is to secure the Chinese youth from the evils of the big bad world of the internet.

This is a rather strong step that clearly puts a question mark on the citizens' on the freedom to use the internet, which as a platform stands for global information flow irrespective of political boundries.

Recently, China had banned popular websites like Twitter, Flickr and even Microsoft's new search engine Bing.

I think this is a good idea and way to safeguard the youth of any country.Since the youth everywhere is too experimenting and curious about the unknown and restricted things, they tend to venture out in the big bad world of internet to find them out,and thus fall into problems. This software though seems to question freedom of individual, but in the long run,it's going to be a boon.

well i believe it is good move ... there is a lot of bad content on the internet which needs to be filtered ...not to mention the hate sites, anti-government sites , and pornography it is high time that world governments look into the matter and block them .... we are talking about people from age group 14 to 25 which are the youth who can get easily influenced by these content . and for the others who are talking about freedom ........if somethings less than 0.001% are blocked you still have access to rest of the net .

And so begins the fall of the Chinese government. When the top layers of society are able to get unfiltered content (do you REALLY think they don't?) but they rigidly control what the masses can see, the hypocrisy will slowly and insidiously rot the ruling class from the inside out. It may take generations, but it is inevitable.

But they won't do anything to stem the tide of out-bound hacking I'll bet. My firewall drop table is stuffed with Chinese network addresses, and every I add more...
