The phishing message carries an email address with name Support
Phishing attacks have often been launched on the social networking sites Facebook, Myspace and number of others. Now, the hackers have started launching phishing attacks to email accounts. Sarah Calaunan, fraud analyst at security solution provider Trend Micro, wrote on the company's official blog that phishing attacks targeting Microsoft Outlook were reported.
The new phishing attack targets Microsoft Outlook users by sending them alert to re-configure their Outlook. On clicking, the user is lead to a phishing site with name Microsoft.com with something in prefix where in his login credentials are asked. This is dangerous since the phishing message carries an email address with name Support and thus, many users might fall for the trap.
Do not fall for such traps and in case you find any message in your Micrsoft Outlook folder, delete it immediately.
The attack will only be successful when user commits the mistake of entering his login credentials on the phishing site. Later, the hacker would be able to steal critical information.
