Sony has announced the new slim and light PSPgo (PSP-N1000) that will be sold side-by-side the current PSP-3000 model. As mentioned earlier, the new PSPgo boasts 16GB of internal flash storage, this evolutionary handheld sheds the proprietary UMD support. Sony PSPgo would be available for $249 (Rs. 12,000 approx.) in U.S. from Oct 1 onwards.
New PSPgo is 40 percent lighter (158grams) than the PSP-3000 model. It carries 3.8 inch LCD screen with 480x272 resolution which drops from 4.3-inch LCD Screen found in previous generation PSP models. Also, the screen slides out to reveal the button configuration and one analog stick. Chrome triggers are located on the top of the body (not on the display portion). PSPgo specifications: - Approx. 128 x 16.5 x 69 mm (width x height x depth) - CPU: 333MHz - Memory: 64MB memory (main memory) - Display: 3.8-inch display (480 x 272 resolution) - Audio: Built-in stereo speakers and microphone - Wireless: 802.11b WiFi - Bluetooth: Bluetooth 2.0+EDR - Internal Storage: 16GB storage - USB 2.0 - Memory Stick Micro slot - Analog video out
It should be noted that UMD content cannot be played on PSPgo. A PS3's wireless controller can be configured to be used with PSP. Video out cables will have to be purchased separately, which is nothing new since Sony rarely packs them.
This new PSPgo might take a month or two to reach Indian shores. We aren't sure about the exact prices but expect them to be somewhere close to Rs. 14,000, which includes different duties and taxes.
