Big announcements from EA and Microsoft
E3 is back and how, big games, big announcements and even bigger surprises. Electronic Arts has made a slew of game announcements and new services. Of all these one of the most important is that Crytek developed Crysis 2 game published by EA will be developed for multiple platforms. The long awaited "The Beatles: Rock Band" game was announced with original The Beatles band members Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr along with Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison.
Here is a rundown of EA's major announcements at E3, followed by some major announcements by Microsoft.
Crysis 2 goes multiplatform Crytek had showed off its next generation CryENGINE 3 for all major gaming platforms on March 23 at Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco. CryENGINE 3 was being lauded as the first development platform designed for developing games for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, DirectX 9/10 (PC) and massive multiplayer online games with ability to scale up the graphics.
Crytek, however, was mum on whether the CryENGINE 3 used for developing PC games would be used for developing games for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. Now since EA and Crytek have extended partnership for multiplatform game development, Crysis 2 will be developed for Xbox 360 and PS3 as well. Crysis 2 will be the first game developed using the CryENGINE 3 and also the development studio's first title for consoles.
