Google Reader fans and RSS junkies would surely love to see the new Google Reader gadget for Google Desktop. In December last year, Google had brought the Gmail Gadget for Google Desktop for the Gmail lovers.

Google Desktop users need to have Google Desktop 5 (for Windows and Linux) or a higher version to install the Google Reader gadget. The RSS junkies can now stay updated with of their most loved RSS feeds without firing up the web browser.

After Google Desktop 5 is installed (assuming you may not have it), head to download the Google Reader gadget. Once you select any RSS feeds subscription, the Google Reader gadget automatically updates the Reader gadget with new posts.

However, there's a glitch for the full HTML feeds about with Brian Shih, software engineer for Google Reader posted:

Due to a technical limitation of Google Desktop gadgets, full HTML feeds won't render fully, but clicking on an item title will take you to the original website in your browser.

The Google Reader gadget for Google Desktop is yet another smart way to stay updated with the latest posts, news and other information piped as RSS feeds.

Note: The Google Reader gadget won't work properly with Windows 7 Release Candidate, so kindly save couple of megabytes of data and your hair, of course.
