    Intex's latest low-end phone is a 5 LED wonder!

Handsets with basic utilitarian features have always been a hit in India. Nokia started off this trend with the Nokia 1100 that came with a very basic torch functionality with the phone.

Fast forward four years, we have Intex, who has launched a similar product, albeit a much better one, features wise. The Intex Hero, in fact, sports as many as five LED lights and seems all set to replace that old torch/flashlight of yours. Oh, and this one can make the occasional phone calls too!

The Intex Hero comes with an absolutely monstrous 1800Mah battery that promises a wicked 45 days of stand-by battery life. A full charge can offer a pretty decent 9 hour talktime, if you do not use the torch frequently. If you live in one of those remote villages where venturing out after dark is an issue, this might be the answer to your woes. Well, it s not us who is saying this. Intex says is targeting the rural segment with phones with utilitarian features like these.

That, however, doesn't mean the company has ignored other features. Sure enough, the phone comes with an FM radio receiver, a basic camera, expandable memory, an MP3 audio player and a comprehensive 1000 contacts phonebook.

The Hero has been priced decently at Rs. 2,999 and is now available at an Intex dealer near you. Go get it before its dark!

Technology Websites are supposed to be about latest happenings, reviews and previews of products and technologies. But techtree has degenerated into a mindless mine of advertising and publicity. Many articles either advertise some BSNL mobile tariff scheme or some toher product. Grow up. I am not saying to copy TomsHardware but improving your quality will go a long way into retaining old users.

Avishek, I agree with you on the first part. As the person who wrote this story, let me assure you that there was absolutely no bias in my mind when I wrote this piece. It has been a tradition to publish information regarding newly launched devices on Techtree. The above piece was in fact a press release from Intex --minus all the typical PR jazz. If at any point you felt this sounded more like an advertorial, my apologies. I felt this one was a rather cool phone and might appeal to some, and that was basically the reason for my overenthusiasm -- which you might have taken as a biased viewpoint. :P. Keep writing!
