Is Nokia E75 a Worthy Upgrade to the E71?

Prasad Naik, May 26, 2009 1500 hrs IST

Not as impressive as its predecessor the E71

Display performance, full QWERTY keypad, 3.5mm headphone jack, audio quality, N-Gage support, GPS and Wi-Fi, VGA Video recording

QWERTY keypad could have been better designed, bulky and boring design, minor issues with build, battery life, weak loudspeaker

The highly talented and popular Nokia E71 has now got an upgrade in the form of the new Nokia E75. The E75 includes a full QWERTY keypad that slides out from underneath the display. Along with that it also includes a few more upgrades like a bigger display, an updated OS and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Will it earn the same respect like the E71 or will it go beyond it? Should it be your next smartphone? Should you upgrade from your existing E71? Read on for all the answers.

E 71x is special edition exclusively for AT&T only. It's network locked and some feature are disabled. Also it will be having default AT&T Applications installed which you can't uninstall. Only gud thing is color.. BLACK !!! Better to stick E71 is you are not that much texing.

E71x is the special version of E71 which is locked to AT&T network. So there is no way it can come to India.

I'd gone to buy a E71 but the keypad of the E75 is much better. E71 keypad is too small for writing emails. I also have a nokia E90 and i think the E75 is much better and lighter replacement for my older pencil box.

Many a times, people who try to reach me complain that my phone was unreachable. I do not know if I should blame it on my E 75 or the airtel network. i do notice that the signal bars keep flickering when I move from room to room.Quite frustrating I must say for such an expensive piece shouldn't give a simple error like this.

"What's worse is that these keys have their own backlight, which only comes on in the camera application, but I cannot think of any logical reason why the backlighting in the volume keys don't come on in the music player or the FM radio. Is it more important to see the zoom keys in the dark or the volume keys? Well, apparently Nokia thinks so." This is wrong. Just put your left finger or whatever on the small light sensor to block it completely, and play with any key on the QWERTY keypad. It'll light up almost instantanouesly.

i have been using the phone for more than a month now... first of all the phone came with an 8gb micro sd card. I am a heavy user and on a single charge i got talk time and gprs browsing of more than 7 hours. the camera unlike u said is of much better quality than E-66 which i was using b4 E-75. the full QWERTY keyboard was much comfortable and easy to use despite my big fingers. while using the numeric pad i accidently open the calender app or contact app. after a week of its use i had some trouble with its sensor(tap to silent feature) when turned on the fone doesnt ring at all; but other wise i wud say is the best e series fone presntly available. i seriously doubt that its an upgrade of E71.

My bad. I accidentally put 4 GB in the review because we received the 4 GB card instead of the 8 GB with the phone. The error has been corrected.
