    Acer K10: A Pocketable Projector

Roydon Cerejo, May 21, 2009 1630 hrs IST

The smallest projector to hit the labs

Small size, carry pouch included, good build, good picture quality given its size, tripod mountable

Low brightness levels, expensive, no remote function, Auto Keystone is not effective

The WD TV changed the way we perceive portable video players. With only the need for a hard drive and a display, you're all set for HD nirvana. You can easily pocket it and take it along on a vacation or to a friend's house without worrying about a PC or a DVD player. There's nothing like watching your movies on a big screen but sadly not everyone can afford one.

That's exactly where today's product comes into the picture. The Acer K10 Travel projector is designed for movie buffs on the move. This minuscule projector easily fits in the palm and is dressed in a very attractive black gloss finish. The Acer K10 can easily project a 50-inch screen from a distance of two meters, so now you can set up your cinema anywhere on the go.

I couldn't believe there was a projector in the box, as it was even smaller than a Netbook box. A couple of cables and the power adapter is all you need to get started. Acer even throws in a handy carry pouch for the K10.

  • Composite cables

  •  VGA cables

  • Carry pouch

Well what is blue ray its nothing but best picture quality on only HDMI input , so as you could see it has only yellow (composite) cable input which does not do well with the HDMI signals. Its as good as DVD. sorry.

You could check Toshiba F10U has everything same but better quality and more options. I have tested Toshiba one and it did well as advertised. Picture quality ,color reproduction, Screen size, input serialization and features all are superior then this crap. F10U has USB and SC card input to play sideshows. Size and other design things are almost same as this projector. But has few extra things like Lens protector, USB,SC card inputs, looks beautiful, Keystone works well, screen size could go upto 80 and beyond if you play only video (not as computer monitor, because of 100 lumens it looses the focus/picture quality. so overall F10U wins this battle. Price wise I bought mine for 450 USD. Top on that Brand name does matter. I hope this I made a point to decide something better.
