Laptop users are as data hungry as their desktop counterparts and this calls for laptop hard drive manufacturers to create laptop hard drives with higher capacities. 500 GB is the highest available from any manufacture at the moment and we have already reviewed a few of them. Along with a higher capacity, the focus is shifting to producing laptop hard drives that consume less power than their predecessors.


 


Hitachi is a well-known name in the laptop hard drive segment and we have one such eco-friendly hard drive from them in our tech labs today. The Hitachi Travelstar 5K500.B HTS545050B9A300 is a 500 GB laptop hard drive and is supposed to be better than its predecessor, the Travelstar 5K500 in terms of performance and power consumption. Let us see if the claims are justified.

Needs proofing me thinks "The Hitachi Travelstar 5K500.B HTS545050B9A300 is a 500 GB laptop hard drive and is supposed to be better than its predecessor, the Travelstar 5K500.B in terms of performance and power consumption."
