Nokia Podcasting

This is an interesting application for your S60 phone. It allows you to subscribe to and listen to a host of podcasts that might interest you. If you are unsure of what a podcast actually is, here is a simple explanation. Podcasts are just audio or video files that you can subscribe to and listen to/watch. Read this Wikipedia write-up if you're really curious to know more. Coming back to the application, with this, you can schedule the podcast download timings so that it automatically downloads the podcast of your choice when you're at home using Wi-Fi, instead of using the expensive GPRS connection you might be using otherwise. Of course, this doesn't apply for those who are on a flat rate connection! The application comes preloaded in many phones. In case it hasn't come with yours, get it from here.

Another great feature is that you can read e books by downloading a great software called mobireader. The scroll option allows you to auto scroll and even allows you to control scrolling speed. There are plenty of e books available for downloading. Also there is another great software callled mobipocket creator which allows you to convert e books to mobireader format

Suboho. Have you even read why I have added the rediffmail application in the list? I never said its for using the "revolutionary" rediffmail. I found the contact backup option on it very useful when you are not near a PC. As for articles on hacking and others, they will come in due course. I have also mentioned those applications which already come preinstalled with latest S60 phones. But there are other older phones which do not come pre-installed with these. Like the N73 for example, which still a sizable number of people have. This is meant for almost all S60 third edition devices, not just the well endowed newer ones which usually come wih some these apps preinstalled. I agree with you on one thing though. The Nokia Messaging service should have made it to the list here. But then there are other worthy contenders as well.
