Just a day after, Google Street View came under scanner in Greece against privacy safeguards provided by Google. Japanese residents have raised concern over the Google Street View vehicle cameras capturing images of private areas. And to make do for that, Google plans to reshoot all the images in Japan.

The vehicles capturing images for Google Street View in Japan were placed at such a height that it captured images over the fences of private residences. Keep this in consideration, now Google will lower the height of the cameras mounted on vehicles by 16 inches (40 centimeters) and reshoot.

After the Greece incident, Google spokeswoman Elaine Filadelfo said on Tuesday, "Google takes privacy very seriously, and that's why we have put in place a number of features, including the blurring of faces and license plates, to ensure that Street View will respect local norms when it launches in Greece."

CNET's Chris Matyszczyk noted Google Street View has already shot images in 12 cities including Tokyo and Osake.
