Sony's next PlayStation Portable has heated rumor market again. There are rumours that Sony is going to announce details about the new PSP handheld gaming console at the upcoming E3 conference in June reported 1UP. Previously, Sony's next PlayStation Portable was addressed as PSP 2 or PSP-4000 by rumor mongers. Sony will introduce these new systems for Japan in September and North America will get it in October end or early November.
Last December, it was shelled out that the PSP-4000 had would have hardware iteration. And now, sources directly involved with the new PSP system have mentioned that Sony would be announcing new revamped PSP at the E3 conference this June.
Sony is rumored to name the new system as PSP Go! to supplement its GO! brand of accessories like Go! View on demand service or Go!Cam. Insider sources state that Sony will drop the UMD drive and offer PSP Go! in two internal flash storage versions - 8GB and 16GB. No extra analog stick would be added.
Acclaim chief operating officer David Perry had dropped a bomb by stating that new UMD-less PSP 2 is in works. For selling games, Sony has already kick started its digital game downloads with Patapon 2.
On the launch day, Sony will avail about 100 old and new game titles as digital downloads form the PlayStation Network. Let's hope the PSN doesn't go down on the launch day. PSP Go! will be having WVGA screen and it won't be a touch screen as Sony had denied it earlier.
Taking serious competition from newly launched Nintendo DSi, it's being speculated that Sony lifted set of hardware features from Mylo 2 handheld gaming console. We hope that rumors stand true and we get to see a well deserved PSP upgrade.
