Mobile and online games company Indiagames has launched its Games on Demand (GoD) Franchisee Program today.

The GoD Franchisee program is the first of its kind to promote adoption of value added services on broadband by empowering entrepreneurs across India and providing a new employment avenue for young and old who would want to run their own businesses.

To cater to the expected growth in games subscribers, Indiagames is inviting GoD Franchisees who will have direct access to the broadband subscriber base of the operators through Indiagames and can upsell the games service to them to earn a revenue share per subscriber added.

Indiagames has allied with all the top tier broadband operators in India including BSNL, Airtel, MTNL, Tata VSNL and several others with an aggregate reach into 85% of India's residential broadband market. This market is expected to grow from 5 million subscribers today to about 15 million subscribers by the end of 2010. Indiagames expects about 10% of this base to be gamers who will subscribe to its unique GoD service which provides a digital download of PC games in a subscription model - at a piracy killing price point of only INR 200 per month for accessing more than 250 PC games.

Says Indiagames CEO Mr. Vishal Gondal, "Online gaming has a huge potential in India with the rapidly expanding PC base and growing broadband penetration. With the GoD service establishing itself with a sizeable base; we now want to localize the marketing of this service through internet savvy entrepreneurs who want to benefit from the online gaming market."

Worldwide, gaming is generally viewed as a recession proof industry and Indiagames is sure more people will stay back home this year and play PC games than going out and spending on movies etc. "We have already seen gaming eating into TV viewing time over the last year," says Gondal.

With a base of over 25000 paid subscribers, the GoD service has appeal across age groups. It also has the distinction of winning the 'NASSCOM Business Innovation Award' this year.
