Orange UK announces the Vegas, a lowcost touchscreen in the UK
With the world still reeling aftereffects of the recession, most manufacturers and operators are looking forward to cut costs and save money by concentrating on high volume, low-end products. The UK is no exception and the attraction towards the mid to low end segment is evident from the fact that Orange has announced the launch of its very own, branded touchscreen handset christened the Vegas in the UK.
It was first seen in the flesh just over a month ago. The device offers users the satisfaction of using a touchscreen without actually having to pay a bomb.
Features wise, the device comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA display, Bluetooth, MP3 player, FM radio, 1.3MP camera and MicroSD card support for memory expansion. This one is by no means a smartphone even though it looks like a lost sibling from the HTC family. It is being sold by Orange and is priced at $71 (Rs.3500) on Pay As You Go. Users have two color options; black and pink.
As of now, the seemingly cute little touchscreen is limited to its availability in the UK only. We might see an international launch in the near future.
I recently bought this phone and it's amazing. Sure all the other touchscreen phones out there are better than this one but for the price, it's really good. I dislike paying more than £100 for a decent mobile, the fact that it's touchscreen is an extra bonus. I would recomend this phone to anyone
I want this company to release this phone in India also bcoz it has everything which a basic phone should have + touchscreen advantage !!!!!!!!!! If techtree team passes this message to the UK company, it would be beneficial.
