Suggestions will be based on frequently mailed contacts
From now on, your office colleagues, relatives and friends won't complain about missing out on special news from you. Why? Because Gmail just got better. When you compose a mail, Gmail's Labs feature suggests mail contacts so that you don't miss out on any recipients.
Ari Leichtberg, software engineer for Google Labs, posted on the official Gmail blog that Gmail recipient suggestions will consist of most-frequently mailed contacts.
To activate this function, click on Labs icon in Gmail and click on 'Enable' next to the 'Suggest more recipients'. Hit 'Save Changes' and you'll be ready to use the 'suggest more recipients' feature.
However, as a prerequisite for getting suggested recipients, users will have to enter at least two frequently mailed contacts.
Though this is a totally cool feature, it would have been even better if there was a way to edit these suggested contacts. For instance, if users could create contact groups like family, friends, college pals, colleagues, etc. - then on adding at least two contacts from any of these groups, Gmail should be able to give suggestion of adding other recipients from the same group.
That's a suggestion from us and we hope Gmail Lab engineers consider them. Till then, enjoy the 'suggest more recipients' feature.
But isnt this feature already there?. I do get a mail id /mail ids when i enter it partially in the address box, whats the difference between that and this suggestion feature?
